    Learning Objectives:

    1. Determine the effectiveness of the HR plans, polices, programs, systems, and procedures and their role in the organization’s strategic planning process.  

    2. Benchmark actual against performance and develop an action for addressing shortfalls.  

    3. Identify risks and reduce the exposure for violations, fines, etc.

    .About the Program:

    The HR audit is the process of examining policies, procedures, documentation, systems and practices as they relate to an organization’s HR function. Purpose is to reveal the strengths and weaknesses in the firm’s HR system. The audit findings should be used to identify gaps between current practices and what is needed to become “Employer of Choice” within the given industry and/or labor market. To determine if HR functions are effectively aligned with the organization’s strategic plan and culture.

     About the Speaker:

    Dennis Travers has more than 30 years of in depth experience as a senior human resource professional, at both the corporate and facility levels.  He is a seasoned veteran with extended professional knowledge and achievements within the field of management of both union and union-free work environments.  He is well versed in employee/labor law including but not limited to:  EEO, ADA, FMLA, Unemployment Compensation and Workers Compensation.  He has devoted the last fifteen years of his career to assisting organizations develop, implement and manage organizational change management, leadership development and culture change programs.

    Mr. Travers holds a BS degree in Management from The Pennsylvania State University and a MBA from Frostburg State University.  He holds the certification of Senior Human Resources Professional from the National Society of Human Resources Management.  He has also published several articles in business publications regarding employee retention and workers compensation cost control.

    In addition to his private sector experience, Mr. Travers has served as an adjunct facility member within the Business Administration Department of several local universities and colleges.  He has also conducted numerous training programs for Continuing Education Departments the Hagerstown Community College, the Frederick Community College, as well as the American Management Association.
