Minds Matter:  Understanding and Preventing Burnout with Gregory H. Powell, PH.D.

    Description:

It's one thing to work hard; it's another to burn out. Work overload, organizational stress, and difficulty managing time and boundaries can strain our minds and bodies to the point of fatigue. And if this fatigue persists, we are at risk of burnout. In this presentation we'll understand the causes of burnout and its impact on our well-being and job performance. We'll also explore ways to recover from burnout and prevent it in the first place.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Understand four major causes of burnout
    • Understand the basic brain functions that create and prevent burnout
    • Recognize the six key signs of burnout
    • Identify at least three emperically-based ways to prevent and recover from burnout
